This week is focused on cognitive and mood changes in the older adult. Cognitive changes that are most affected as we age are attention and memory. Attention is required to help us drive (multitasking and reacting to stimuli without warning). Research has shown that the older adult has a significant decline in divided attention which increased their risk for automobile accidents (Gilsky, 2007).
